The Yungzoï

The Yungzoï

The Yungzoï are a species deeply rooted in conflict, honor and warrior culture. Their society revolves around discipline, strength and earning respect through combat skill. Physically, the Yungzoï show great variation in outward form. Some display reptilian features similar to crocodiles or salamanders, while others have a more robust, almost stone-like body structure. Despite these differences, they almost always share scale-like skin textures and an exceptionally strong physical build. Unlike many other intelligent species on Xinesh, most Yungzoï have a relatively low affinity with elemental mana. Instead, they specialize in weapon techniques, tactical combat styles and physical enhancement. Through mana enhancement, they can harden their skin and temporarily strengthen their body, making them particularly effective in frontline combat. The few elemental affinities that sporadically occur within the species are primarily water and fire. According to dominant scientific theories, this relates to their cold-blooded biological structure and their adaptive metabolism. Historically, the Yungzoï were created by the Xanu during a period of large-scale conflicts on Xinesh, when multiple intelligent species were fighting for territorial control over parts of the planet. The Yungzoï were designed as a specialized combat species, with a focus on loyalty, combat efficiency and frontline dominance. During these wars, the Yungzoï proved exceptionally effective. Their deployment on the battlefield played a crucial role in the Xanu's military campaigns and ultimately contributed to the recapture and reunification of Xinesh under Xanu leadership. For more than fifty thousand years, the Yungzoï have served as loyal military allies of the Xanu. Within Xanu society, they are respected for their discipline, loyalty and combat capabilities. At the same time, they are often viewed primarily as warriors rather than as a fully independent civilization, which brings subtle social hierarchies and tensions. For the Yungzoï themselves, honor is central: respect is earned through strength, perseverance and loyalty — not through lineage or status.
