The Xanu
The Xanu are the original inhabitants of Xinesh. Their species has existed and led the planet for more than five million years, forming the core of the world's technological, cultural and political development throughout that time. What few outsiders know is that the Xanu were not the only intelligent species to have ever lived on Xinesh. In the distant prehistoric past, multiple highly developed civilizations existed on the planet. These early species became entangled in large-scale conflicts, later known as the Prehistoric Wars. Fought with primitive but extremely destructive forms of mana and ancient technology, these wars led to the near-total extinction of all other intelligent species. The Xanu were the only ones to survive this period. Through a combination of adaptability, strategic thinking and technological innovation, they managed to stabilize and rebuild their society. In the millennia that followed, the Xanu developed into one of the most advanced civilizations in their sector of the universe. They mastered interstellar travel, advanced mana integration and large-scale sustainable ecosystems. With this progress, the Xanu turned their attention to the stars. They began exploring other planets and encountered multiple intelligent species threatened with extinction due to ecological collapse, war or natural catastrophes. In many cases, the Xanu offered assistance in the form of technology, infrastructure and evacuation programs. This approach led to the emergence of a multicultural society on Xinesh, in which different species coexist under Xanu governance. While this integration was often presented as humanitarian, it also brought power imbalances and dependency relationships, which to this day cause political and social tensions. Within Xanu culture, their role as survivors and guardians of civilization is seen as a historical responsibility. Critical voices from other species argue, however, that this position has also led to a form of cultural dominance.
